Personal safety

Some advice on how to ensure you stay safe and enjoy professional photo shoots and modelling work

There are no inherent dangers to worry about if you are undertaking modelling work with legitimate clients and agencies. There should be no threats to your safety and the whole process will be carried out professionally. If you are worried about attending a shoot then you should certainly let someone know where you are going. Use your inside information if you are with an agency as they will know immediately whether there is anything to be worried about. Check out references and information relating to a photographer if you are unsure, there should be plenty of information online. If you really feel the need then you can bring a chaperone, but it is better to do good research and make sure you are entering into something safe and non-threatening. Some photographers may be put off by chaperones, or feel that either themselves or you will become inhibited, damaging the quality of the shoot. Anyone who is under-age will always have to have a chaperone by law and if anyone is resistant to this then do not continue with the process. Make sure you get a good idea who you are working with and the more experience you gain the better you will be able to judge people in the industry.
